TABITHA GILMORE-BARNES STUDIO "BRING HOME THE COLORS OF THE CATSKILLS" (tm)

TABITHA GILMORE-BARNES has been weaving since 1980, creating handwoven textiles for the wardrobe and home. Since 1990, with a move to Delaware County, NY (in the Catskill Region), she added handspun locally sourced wool and alpaca yarns to her business. She sells her products through the Pure Catskills Marketplace (www.purecatskillsmarketplace.com/store/Tabitha), as well as retail spaces at Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild (www.catsguild.org) and Catskill Regional Harvest (https://www.catskillsregionalharvest.com/).

In 2017 she joined the American Tapestry Alliance, and through the mentor-mentee program is strengthening her tapestry weaving skills to create woven artwork https://americantapestryalliance.org/artist-pages/tabitha-gilmore-barnes/).

Her STUDIO tag line “BRING HOME THE COLORS OF THE CATSKILLS” ™ reflects how much the surrounding beauty and studio views influence her creativity. By dyeing, with non-toxic and botanical dyes, locally sourced wools in small amounts, she purposely allows for subtle color variations in the 1 or 2lb balls of roving. She hand spins these into 3oz balls, and sells them in Weekend Craft Kits, or weaves them into lap blankets and tapestries.

She can followed at https://facebook.com/handwoventextiles/ and https://tabithagilmore-barnesstudio.blogspot.com. Studio Visits are by appointment: tgbweavingstudioo@hotmail.com or 607 326 7662 as well as with the AMR Open Studios Tour held annually since 2012.
